Lynixai: Gaming and stuff.: Portal 2 - Getting started

lynixai:

So, i posted yesterday that I’d do some reviews, and i couldn’t find a better game to start out with then one of my all time favorites. Portal 2.

The game is set a few years after the first game, i believe. It starts off a bit slow, to let you learn the mechanics of the game, which is great,…

Pretty much what the gaming industry is becoming. My personal opinion on the matter: It’s theft. If people do the effort to invest their disposable income in games, they should get what they paid for. They paid for a full game, and deserve to see all the mandatory content. What should DLC be? It’s simple: Novelty items (Extra character skins, weapons as long as they’re not more powerful than all the other weapons in the entire game) and extra content that goes beyond the game’s main story, not a continuation of the story. That’s what sequels should be for.The industry should keep moving forward, and DLC is a good thing for a game’s longetivity, but at least make sure it’s additional content, and not just a “key” to unlock content that’s already on the game’s disc.

Kratos Aurion, from the Tales Of Symphonia series of games (Part of the Tales Of series).  This character’s development is a beautiful sight: Throughout the game, you can see how his complex and fatalistic personality (A more immortal / godlike personality) becomes all the more human due to his relationships with the other protagonists, and the world-changing events that lay the foundation of this very game. One of his most memorable quotes, “Blame your fate”, becomes all the more meaningless as the story progresses, for he realizes he is in full control of his own fate and destiny. He abandons his fatalistic mind-set.

Today could best be described as a lazy friday. Wake up around noon, rub your eyes for a couple of minutes as you toss and turn in your warm bed, finally stand up and think by yourself: “What should I do today?”.

The answer to said question is simple: Not much happened. Not even in the gaming aspect of my young adult life. I’m quite sure many college students amongst yourselves can concur with said situation. I killed time playing my 3DS in between surfing the internet, looking for tasty gaming-related articles and video’s on Youtube. The most interesting part of my day would’ve been my re-emergence into the realm of the Golden Sun franchise, which I am tempted to replay in the very near future.

I seem to suffer from a short-term “gaming burn-out” nowadays. As an example: I dust off my copy of “Star Fox 64 3DS” to go and do a couple of barrel rolls, but ended up turning off my game after no more than 20 minutes. The reason why? No idea. I no longer felt like playing and went back to surfing the far corners of the internet. I hope this is no more than a short period of exhaustion, so I can get right back to gaming my sorrows away on rainy and gloomy days!

Perhaps tomorrow shall bring a more high-spirited day full of glorious enjoyment.

Until next time,
Nickbuster.

One of the best soundtracks in the entire game (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword). Relaxing, yet somewhat adventurous at the same time. This soundtrack made  one of the more daunting area’s (The Lanayru Sand Sea) of the game a mystical marvel.
